With many schools closed today, I am attaching a few fun St. Patrick’s Day activities you can use at home today with your kiddos!
Catch the Leprechaun
Leave little clues around your house/outside and go on a scavenger hunt to find the leprechaun or his pot of gold. With a little food coloring and whipped cream, you can leave a lot of fun clues. This can target prepositions, pronouns, following directions, sequencing and answering questions.
Rainbow Soup
Pull out a pot and send your kids on a hunt around the house to find different items that are the colors of the rainbow. This can target a variety of different language tasks. Work on following directions and understanding adjectives by giving them specific items to go find. You can work on inferencing by giving clues for the different ingredients for the “Rainbow Soup.” Work on sequencing by discussing what went into the soup “first, next and last.”
Articulation
If your child was working on a specific sound you can easily work on this by reading a story and having them imitate the words that have their sounds in them. Just repeating back words to them that they mispronounce will help bring awareness and help build self-monitoring and self-correction skills! If you have any questions regarding specific tasks you can use at home to work on different speech sounds, please feel free to send me a message or email and I will be happy to help!
